TEACHERS: Project Pledge fulfills Arizona State Health Standards
The school year comes around and once again teachers have to start looking for new and interesting ways to comply with State Health Standards. Well, if you feel like you're under the gun again . . .. Stop!

Project Pledge programs are all designed to be in compliance with the State Health Standard. Encourage your students to involve themselves in the Project Pledge programs and by their participation you will fulfill your obligation to the State. Project Pledge is a meaningful experience for kids as well as a valuable resource of adherence and information to you. Put Project Pledge on your daily planner this year and give yourself the gold star.

SESSION STATE HEALTH STANDARDS

1. 1CH-P1: Explain how behavior impacts health maintenance and disease prevention.

2. & 3. 1CH-P3, PO 4: Determine strategies to reduce health risk for more healthy behavior.
3CH-P3, PO 2: Identify the short-term and long-term consequences of responsible and risky /harmful behaviors.
3CH-P4, PO 1: Describe responsible and safe behavior (personal, family and community) such as driving, sports, recreation, and interpersonal relationships.

4. 1CH-P8, PO 4: Describe the major factors in family planning.

5. & 6. 1CH-P6, PO 3: List specific communicable diseases, which may be transmitted by substance abuse behaviors.
1CH-P7, PO 1: Identify the effect of substance abuse on the individual.

7. & 8. 3CH-P1, PO 1: Describe the role of individual responsibility for the individual's physical, social, spiritual and psychological growth and development.
3CH-P3, PO 2: Identify the decision-making process.
3CH-P4, PO 2: Conduct self-protection techniques to use in various personal, family, social /community environments.
5CH-P1: Select ways to communicate care, consideration and respect of self and others to enhance health.
5CH-P1, PO 2: Demonstrate effective techniques, including refusal skills, for handling conflict and solving problems.
5CH-P2, PO 3: Participate in role-plays that demonstrate refusal, negotiation, mediation and collaboration skills to resolve conflict.
6CH-P1, PO 1: Demonstrate at least one effective strategy for reducing the probability of involvement in a risk behavior.
6CH-P1, PO1: Prepare a discussion analyzing issues that require a collaborative decision (e.g. communicable disease, violence, environmental issues, sexual involvement).

9. 1CH-P4: Explain how the family, peers and community influence the health of individuals.
4CH-P2: Describe the impact of media and technology on personal, family and community health.
